Who To Invite To Your Party Anyone who is up for a laugh and doesn't expect top-quality music can be invited. An interest in Eurovision helps but isn't vital, as the party will be fun whether or not you are stark raving Eurobonkers. A party is also a good way to win over any Euroskeptics you know by showing them how much fun a Eurofest is.
Each guest should be assigned one country or more (preferably no more than three) and because of the change to the system this year there will be some difficulty, as the final lineup will not be known until the Thursday night and that leaves little time for the guests to find a costume and food/drink from their country.
There will be 24 countries in the final so that is the ideal number of guests for your party, but 12 or 8 would work too.
Alternatively, you could assign all 40 countries before the Wednesday semi, and although some people will already have seen some of their countries knocked out of the contest, this should add to the excitement of the contest. |

Where To Host Your Party
Usually it will be fine to hold the Eurovision party in your house, though the room should be large to ensure everyone is comfortable and has enough space to breathe and party. Make sure you clear away all your things that have been 'stored' on the floor, and if you still live with your parents, or a boring flatmate, get them out of the house/flat for the night. If you want to go the whole hog, book a function room or hall and get a big screen to watch the festivities as they happen, this will really make the night special. For rooms available to book check your local Yellow Pages® or www.thevenuelibrary.com. Of course you will need a lot of money to be able to book a room, so don't use your student loan to pay for this, just stick to what you can afford.

When To Host Your Party
The grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 is held on Saturday 21st May at 8.00pm (UK time). It lasts approximately 3 hours 10 minutes. This is obviously the time to hold your Eurovision party. If, however, one party isn't enough to satisfy your love of parties and/or Eurovision, you could have a 2nd party the Thursday before, for the contest's semi-final.
You should ensure the party starts a good hour or so before the show does, so everyone will be there on time, and everyone can have a good chat. This means that when the show starts everyone should be paying attention to it. By starting the party early and finishing late, you ensure that the party is more of an event and more fun can be packed into the one night. |
