Food

The easiest food option is buffet food (like pizza, butties, sausages on sticks etc.) but then that's just not cheesy enough for Eurovision.

Each guest can be asked to supply food from their assigned country, and this can be consumed by everyone while that particular country is performing their entry. This can lead to some strange combinations of savoury and sweet food. This may be difficult with some countries so imagination should be used. Prizes could be offered for the most obscure foods found.

Examples

•Iceland - Ice cream
•Austria - Vienetta (sounds like Vienna)
•Malta - Maltesers

Try and see what you can come up with for countries like FYR of Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina!

You (the host) can also cook up traditional dishes from the host country (Ukraine).

Drink

There are many different ways to get drunk at your Eurovision party, they are all fun but drinking games are essential for this. Here are some different drinking games you can play, but the end result is always the same!

1) Fill a massive bowl full of different European alcoholic beverages and whenever a guest's country scores 12 or 0 points they must take a drink from it.
2) Everyone brings a drink from their represented country and everyone toasts that country with a shot of their specific drink during the performance.
3) Everyone takes a drink of their preferred tipple when:
•A song has a keychange
•Scandinavian countries give each other votes
•Greece and Cyprus give each other 12 points
•Britain give points to Ireland
•France awards Britain nul points
•A camp song comes on
•For each point their country gets awarded (Advisable
to only try this with countries who are likely to score low)
•Your assigned country doesn't win
•Your assigned country does win - down it!

Whether your country wins or not you should end up bladdered and happy!

Games

Ask everyone you invite to the party to bring with them 1 or 2 pounds. This money can then be used for a Eurovision sweepstake, with the person who had the winning country winning the prize money. Prizes can also be given, if required, to 2nd and 3rd place people, and whoever has the last place country could be made to do a Eurovision-related forfeit.

Make up a 'Pass the Parcel' with a layer for every country's song, in performance order. Pass the parcel around in a circle and when the song stops, the person holding the parcel takes off a layer and receives a little gift traditionally from that country. The final prize can be something special like a Eurovision CD, and the final layer can be unwrapped at the end of the winning performance right at the end of the programme.

Another game you can play is to hold your own scoring on the night:

 • Give out 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10 and 12 points cards to each person
 • They then hold one of them up after each song.
 • Results can then be compiled on a large black/whiteboard and compared with the final standings.

OR

 • Each person can give each of their 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10 and 12 points to 1 different country only
 • Whoever gives their points closest to the final standings can be awarded a prize.

OR

 • Points can be given to countries based on many different factors, including dress, singing, song, dancing, looks and comedy value. How about a cheesiness rating?

           - Alternatively you can get your guests to fill in the scores on paper using this template.
